• Action: confirm arrangements for monitoring and moderation for 2018 to 2019
As part of their funding agreements with the Education and Skills Funding Agency (ESFA), academies and free schools are required to comply with statutory moderation and monitoring requirements as set out in the 2019 key stage 1 and key stage 2 assessment and reporting arrangements.
Academies that converted after 2 September 2018 will have their funding paid directly to their geographical local authority (LA) for the first year of conversion, therefore they must use this LA for monitoring and moderation. However, in subsequent years, academies can choose whether to use their geographical or an alternate LA.
If you choose to have an agreement with an LA that is not your geographical LA, you must confirm this in the 'teacher assessment' section of NCA tools by Friday 14 December. If alternate LA details are not submitted, we will assume you have an agreement in place with your geographical LA.
If you do not have an agreement in place for 2019, you will be in breach of your funding agreement with ESFA. This may lead to a maladministration investigation.
Medway's KS1 and KS2 Academy Agreement for 2019 Monitoring and Moderation can be purchased on SLA online > Services > School Improvement.
An email confirming the agreement will be sent from Medway's Assessment Lead before 14th December 2018.
